ABOUT ME
SABA AHMED, FOOD CREATOR
Saba is the founder of Sweet Coco Gems and the creator of the delectable coconut gem,
a guilt-free, gluten-free gourmet treat made from coconut, milk and sugar.
Food has always been my passion. Since my teenage years, I've been interested in nutrition and healthy eating. After studying home economics and food science at university, I continued my studies with a Masters in nutrition and PGCE. I then went into teaching and have worked as a
food technology teacher in secondary schools for over 30 years.
What excites me most about working with food is the opportunity to develop new recipes. With my science background the goal is always to create something new and inspiring by either fusing recipes and making them nutritionally sound by reducing the salt, fat or sugar content to produce something healthier but still delicious.'
'I have travelled a great deal, always keen to try the local cuisine. When tasting the foods of other cultures, I often find myself wondering how I could adapt or develop them for a different palate.
